The Trick: An empty treasure chest is shown to the audience. However, after the treasure chest appears to be empty multiple items are produced from it. These items could include silks, spring flowers, nesting clocks, and more.
The Message: In ministry settings we use this trick to talk about the verse Matthew 13:44. “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it he hid it again and then, in his joy, went and sold all he had and bought that field.” When we discover the true treasure that there is in living for Jesus, we realize that it is worth giving up everything else for because he is what matters most.
